    Data Privacy and Control Specialist

    Pay Range $23.43 - $31.90
    Range 38
    Non-Exempt
    12 months (261 days per year)

     
    Definition:        Under direction of the Director of Educational Technology, performs work of moderate difficulty by developing, installing, maintaining, and supporting platforms that pertain to access control, data control, and data privacy.
     
    Essential Functions:      (Essential functions, as defined under the American with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics.     Responsibilities:           
    • Develops and maintains database systems to store and manage data necessary for the operation of District applications such as the crisis alert system, library circulation, transportation, and food service.
    • Manages and maintains the District’s badging system for employees and students, including issuing, replacing, and troubleshooting ID badges, and coordinating system updates.
    • Supports integration of instructional tools, including coordination with third-party vendors to ensure successful deployment and functionality.
    • Reviews privacy policies, terms of service, and data sharing practices for new and existing digital resources to ensure compliance with District, state, and federal data privacy regulations.
    • Assists sites in setting up software and procedures for reporting demographic information, scheduling, and other data as needed to integrate with other District applications. 
    • Provides support for teachers and staff in the use of the District’s SIS system.
    • Provides direct support for managing the Special Education module in the District’s SIS.
    • Provides support for District personnel in the use and maintenance of software and database systems.
    • Manages updates to website content.
    • Collaborates to build standard operating procedures for the Educational Technology department and Catalina Foothills School District.
     
    Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics:
    • In-depth knowledge of database systems, structures, and management.
    • Knowledge of basic library circulation systems and hardware.
    • Knowledge of job resource organization and scheduling.
    • Knowledge of basic access control in the physical and digital realm.
    • Knowledge of design and implementation of automated databases.
    • Knowledge of Help Desk procedures and skill in taking troubleshooting calls from end users.
    • Knowledge of federal and state student data privacy regulations, including FERPA and COPPA.
    • Knowledge of Special Education data collection/extraction procedures as they relate to the District’s SIS system.
    • Skill in database and software maintenance, administration, and troubleshooting.
    • Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing.
    • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff and administrators.
    • Skill in managing multiple systems and support requests using timeline priorities and working with or without supervision.
    • Skill in using email, word processing and spreadsheet software.
     
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Basic to intermediate SQL knowledge.
    • Functioning knowledge of Microsoft Excel/GoogleSheets, Clever, Cloudbadging, PremiSys, DSX Access Control Systems, Edupoint’s Synergy SIS, Follett’s Destiny Library Circulation system, ParentSquare, and Parent Square Smart Sites.
    • Experience in educational institutions.
     
    Minimum Required Qualifications:
    High School Diploma or GED and four years of experience administering software applications and databases.
     
    Special Requirements:
    Valid Arizona Driver’s license and clear driving record.
